Your insurance may have coverage for acupucture. However, in some cases they will only cover the acupuncture if it is in-network only, or if it is being done for some type of pain management (sometimes only chronic cases) nausea/vomiting due to chemotherapy or morning sickness. In some cases they will not cover the additional modalities that may be beneficial for you as well such as cupping, guasha, moxa, or at home exercises. In those cases where acupuncture is covered, but other services not, you will owe the difference out-of-pocket and is generally $25 more per treatment. In all cases, insurance never covers any herbal therapies, whether internal or topical.
At this time, I am in-network with Cigna, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Kaiser, HealthNet, Aetna, Tri-West/VA (for veterans if they face wait times longer than 30 days, or if the closest VA is more than 40 miles from their home), ClarisPointe, CorVel, Coventry Commcl, Coventry WC, First Health, Health Smart, Multiplan, Prime Health Services.
